Jonathan Calm on the Green Book

November 9 @ 11:00 am

Event Categories:
Companion Ticket

In 2016, the BBC commissioned photographer Jonathan Calm to capture images of sites featured in the Negro Motorists’ Green Book, a guide published from 1937 to 1966 that listed safe places for Black Americans to stay while traveling. Calm comes to CHF to show his photos, and discuss how the ability to choose where, when, and how we travel has influenced American history.

CHF strives to eliminate barriers by making the following services available to you:

  • wheelchair accessible seats,
  • aisle seating,
  • assistive listening devices,
  • american sign language interpretation,
  • open captions,
  • seating close to stage,
  • audio descriptions,
  • and large print or braille programs.

You may request accommodations from the audience services representative at 312-605-8444 or at access@chicagohumanities.org
