When Sister Helen Prejean became penpals with a death row inmate, she didn’t imagine that it would change the course of her life. Now, nearly forty years later, Sister Helen is one of the world’s foremost anti-death penalty advocates, and Dead Man Walking, her harrowing, empathetic account of the impacts of capital punishment, has become essential reading.
