TAP’d In: Understanding Opera: Character & Storytelling

November 13 @ 4:00 pm

Event Categories:
Free

This a free TAP’d In exclusive event for TAP members presented by Chicago Opera Theater and Wellness4Every1!

In this workshop, teens will connect opera traditions with modern-day storytelling. Using the technical and musical elements of the art form, they will use the story of the 1996 Mount Everest disaster as inspiration. Participants will engage in activities about creating sets, making character-musical connections, and storytelling in opera and other mediums.

RSVP is required to attend. RSVP at http://bit.ly/31tt1YL

This is part of a three-workshop series to explore the themes and artistic elements of the opera, EVEREST. Teens can choose to attend one, two, or three of these workshops, and every participant will receive a free copy of the book INTO THIN AIR and a ticket to see EVEREST on stage at the Harris Theater on Saturday, November 16th and a Ventra pass for transportation for the opera.

Keep an eye out for the Wellness, Trust & Movement and Voice & Sound workshops on the calendar!

Teen Arts Pass is proud to present TAP’d In, a series of opportunities for teen members to have a deeper experience with an art form beyond seeing TAP-eligible shows. For 2019, these experiences are focused on the theatre arts as part of the 2019 Year of Chicago Theatre. The program is supported by the City of Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events. Check out a full listing of TAP’d In events right here.
